Versos Mexican Cocina
Our Story

The story behind Versos.

A restaurant born from Chihuahua, Santa Fe,
family memory, Mexican music, and the belief
that food and music are both arts.

Versos Mexican Cocina was created by Celina Montaño, originally from Namiquipa, Chihuahua, Mexico — a town about five hours from the border.

Celina moved to Santa Fe in 2009 and found more than a city. She found home.

Although Versos is her first restaurant, Celina has been building her path as an entrepreneur in Santa Fe since 2015. This restaurant is a new chapter shaped by work, vision, motherhood, and the desire to create something meaningful in the heart of historic downtown Santa Fe.

Maize, chile and molcajete

The heart of Versos comes from the food the founder shared with her family — meals present during celebrations, difficult days, preparation, comfort, mourning, and gathering around the table.

Cooking has always been part of her life, learned from strong women in her family, especially her mother and sister. As a mother of three daughters, she carries that same inspiration into every project and every step.

At Versos, those memories become a menu rooted in maize, chile, house-made tortillas, indigenous culinary practices, and modern northern Mexican cuisine, brought to life in the kitchen by Chef Mateo García.

La memoria también se sirve caliente.

No es solo un platillo.
Es un verso.

The name Versos comes from a love of music — especially boleros, mariachi, and norteñas, genres that were deeply meaningful in Mexican history during La Época Dorada between 1930 and 1950.

For Versos, food and music are both arts.

In the same way a poet crafts each verse with care down to the last syllable, Versos aims to bring that same thoughtfulness to every step of the dining experience — from the ingredients to the preparation, from the plate to the table.

This is not only a restaurant. It is a place where food, memory, music, and Santa Fe meet.
